(SPA) Bangladeshi pilgrims are welcomed with the flowers and Zamzam water
Saudi Arabia: The Islamic Republic of Indonesia with a population of more than 266 million and Bangladesh with a population of more than 166 million will witness the launch of the Mecca Route Initiative for the third year running at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, and for the first time at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital Dhaka after introducing it’s application this year.
The Indonesian and Bangladeshi authorities have shown their great cooperation with the Mecca Route Initiative team on Sunday, while the team is deployed to the two countries, which are about 7,000 kilometers away of each other. The two countries will work at the same moment to complete the procedures of pilgrims easily and conveniently.
This comes as the Mecca Route Initiative continues its success in implementing its work in the initiative countries this year in cooperation with a number of government agencies amid regulatory procedures that have facilitated the departure of hundreds of pilgrims so far from: Malaysia and Pakistan after its launch yesterday at the airports of Kuala Lumpur and Islamabad.
The Saudi Ministry of the Interior launched this initiative partially and experimentally during the Hajj season in 1438 AH on specific rates of pilgrims in Malaysia. It included all Malaysian and Indonesian pilgrims in 1439 AH. This year, the Initiative included Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Tunisia, targeting 225,000 pilgrims.
The Ministry continued its ambitious plan to upgrade the services of the Mecca Route Initiative to serve the pilgrims under the supervision and follow-up of Prince Abdul-Aziz bin Saud, the Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Higher Hajj Committee, as a confirmation of Saudi Arabia’s efforts in caring for Muslims and interest in their affairs, including serving the pilgrims and visitors from all over the world.
The Initiative, launched this season, has achieved high performance rates, starting with the issuance of visas to Saudi Arabia through an integrated system of facilities in customs and passport procedures at the airports of the Initiative countries, which affirms the Saudi government’s keenness to serve pilgrims in the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport or Medina Airport.
The Initiative includes a number of regulatory measures to enter Saudi Arabia in coordination with the authorities in the Initiative countries, while facilitating health requirements and transporting the baggage to ensure that pilgrims arrive directly at their residence without undergoing routine procedures at the airport. The Mecca Route Initiative does not only end the procedures of pilgrims’ departure of their countries, but also, they are welcomed with the flowers and Zamzam water once they arrive in Jeddah or Madinah. The Initiative secures the pilgrims’ passage till they take the buses that transport them to their place of residence in an organized manner to perform Hajj and return home safely.
